Welcome to Room 14 where we Dive Into Learning!
“The important thing is not so much
that every child should be taught,
as that every child should be given the wish to learn.”
It is wonderful to be teaching 2nd grade here at Darnall Charter School. I have been teaching elementary school for the past fifteen years. I love to see how much my students grow during the year!
I graduated with a BA in history from San Diego State, where I also competed on the Aztec Rowing Team. After graduating from SDSU, I spent a year in Boston, MA as an intern teacher. I then returned home to receive my teaching credential through UCLA. After three years of teaching, I earned my Masters in Education through Concordia University.
In my free time you can find me reading, cooking, hiking, or exploring a new area. Reading is a passion of mine, and I strongly encourage all of my students to enjoy reading!
Reading is a very important part of second grade. It is vital that students spend at least 20 minutes reading every day! This daily practice will help improve their reading ability.
Goal -- To develop life-long critical thinkers, who will continue to love learning!

"A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank...but the world may be a better place because I made a difference in the life of a child." -- Forest Witcraft
