Welcome to Room 7! I am excited to be your child’s third grade teacher! My goal is to provide the best education possible for your child and prepare them to be successful students. I need your help to achieve this goal. A good learning experience is built upon cooperative effort between parent, child, and the teacher. My expectations for conduct and academic growth are high. With your participation we can look forward to a productive, creative, and fun year together!
Let me introduce myself! My name is Desirae McKenna and this is my 8th year teaching at Darnall Charter School and my 11th year as an elementary school teacher. I have been teaching in San Diego since 2005. I received my Bachelor’s, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from San Diego State University. I use educational technology in the classroom on a daily basis. Room 7 is equipped with an interactive Promethean whiteboard. I will be using this daily with my lessons. Rm 7 also has a set of classroom laptops! Your child will be using these laptops for my lessons and their independent work. I aim to engage all students in an environment that promotes all types of learning while fostering a sense of success in each individual student.
I look forward to getting to know you! Working with your child is a privilege and I am looking forward to working together to make this year a wonderful experience.
